The role
This role owns how it works to be an employee at Legora on the backend. You will operationalise every stage of the employee journey, making sure every moment is supported by clean systems, accurate data, and processes that scale. If an employee interacts with a Legora program or system, from their first day in the HRIS to a salary change three years in, your team is accountable for making it accurate, timely, and smooth.
You will lead a distributed People Operations team across Stockholm and New York, reporting to the VP, People Operations. As we enter new markets, you will also build and manage local specialisms to handle day-to-day employee and manager questions and run structured, lower-complexity casework, with a clean handoff to Employee Relations for anything that becomes formal, contested, or carries legal weight.
What you'll own
The full employee lifecycle, operationally. Every touchpoint from offer to exit, mapped, documented, and supported end to end.
HRIS and data integrity. Onboarding new hires into the HRIS, data entry, and data QA. You keep employee data accurate, complete, and audit-ready as the single source of truth.
Contracts and changes. Addendums, employee transfers, salary and reporting-line changes, and the workflows and documentation behind each one, working in close partnership with Payroll so every change flows through accurately and on time.
Benefits and leave administration. Run the day-to-day administration of benefits and leave across our markets. Total Rewards owns the policies, plan design, and philosophy; your team makes sure they are executed cleanly for every employee. Anything contested, discriminatory, or medically complex is escalated to Employee Relations.
Local HR Generalist build-out. As Legora enters new markets, hire, ramp, and manage the local HR Generalist / People Advisor-Ops layer: the in-market presence for day-to-day employee and manager questions, and for structured, lower-complexity casework such as absence management, recurring capability concerns, and restructuring conversations. These roles report into People Operations for management and delivery, with a dotted line to the regional Employee Relations Director for sign-off on jurisdictional readiness and casework quality.
Systems and tooling. Run the People tech stack (HiBob, Ashby, Ironclad), drive adoption, and take manual work out of the process.
Process and SOPs. Design scalable, well-documented processes for every program employees touch, and keep reducing friction and cycle time.
Compliance and controls. Partner with Legal and Finance to keep operations compliant across our markets, including working time, leave, and entity or EOR transitions, with a clean escalation path to Employee Relations for anything that becomes formal or carries legal weight.
Reporting. Own people data quality and the reporting backbone that powers People analytics for the business.
What you'll bring
8+ years in People Operations or HR Operations, including leading a team and building out local, in-market HR capability as a company scales into new geographies, ideally in a high-growth or global company.
Deep HRIS expertise across complex, multidisciplinary system landscapes, with a strong interest in data quality, integrations, AI and tools.
A track record of building and scaling lifecycle processes and SOPs internationally, and of moving work from manual to automated.
Strong grasp of multi-jurisdiction employment compliance across EMEA, AMER, and APAC.
Comfort operating in a tiered People model, with clear judgment on what your team owns directly and what belongs with Employee Relations, Legal, or Total Rewards.
An operator's mindset: detail-obsessed, systems-thinking, and a high bar for accuracy.
Comfort partnering across Finance, Legal, and IT, and communicating clearly with employees and leaders alike.
Fluency in English, which is our working language.
