The role
We are looking for a Senior People Operations Manager to own and improve the systems, processes and operational foundations behind our People function, across all of our markets.
You will own the core People Operations scope: payroll, HRIS, contracts, compliance, benefits, employee lifecycle operations, immigration, people data and our HR tooling. But this is not simply a role about running existing processes - your job is to make them better. You will build the people workflows, automation, documentation and self-service mechanisms that allow Photoroom to keep moving quickly as we grow, without creating unnecessary complexity.
This scope has so far sat within a small generalist People team. You will be the first person to own it as a dedicated senior scope, giving you the opportunity to shape this operating model.
We are also an AI-native company, and we want our People function to operate the same way. We expect you to actively use automation and AI to improve speed, reliability and employee experience, while maintaining a high bar for privacy, compliance and trust.
You will report to our VP People. This is a senior individual contributor role with no direct reports today.

The foundations work. Now they need a clear owner and regular improvements.
We want to move from processes that depend on individual knowledge and manual intervention to an operating model that is documented, automated, measurable and more self-service for our employees.
Your goal is to strengthen our foundations with proven best practices and build a model that scales comfortably with the company.
What you will own
Payroll
Own and Run monthly payroll for France and our European population, and twice-monthly US payroll, working closely with our external providers
Manage relationships with payroll, EOR and employment providers
Compliance
Maintain our French statutory obligations and HR compliance calendar, including employee records, social declarations, DUERP and employee data requirements
Own the operational administration of our CSE, including convocations, agendas, meeting preparation, PV review, annual budget administration and mandatory timelines
Monitor relevant employment law developments and translate changes into concrete actions
Coordinate compliance across our European and US setups, with deep expertise expected in France primarly
Contracts and People documentation
Employment contracts, amendments, offer letters, attestations and standard HR letters, maintaining and improving templates as our organisation and legal environment evolve
Setting clear service levels for recurring People Ops requests
Building practical People playbooks and documentation that employees and managers can actually find, understand and use
Employee lifecycle
Onboarding administration from signed offer through day one, coordinating payroll, benefits, declarations, IT access, equipment, manager actions ect..
Offboarding and exit administration, including documentation, payroll, benefits, access removal and final employment documents
Promotions, compensation changes, employment changes, contract amendments, leaves, parental leave and other employee changes
Immigration and visa administration, including external providers, applications, renewals and deadline tracking
Benefits & Compensation
Administer benefits and manage providers across France, Europe and the US
Run annual renewals with Finance and the VP People, using cost, usage and employee value to inform decisions
Support compensation benchmarking and salary band maintenance
HRIS, data and automation
Our HRIS is Hibob today, which may or may not change. You will own the reliability and evolution of our People systems.
This includes:
HRIS configuration, permissions, workflows, integrations and data quality
Making the HRIS the reliable source of truth for employee data
Assessing opportunities to consolidate or improve our HR technology stack
Automating repetitive workflows wherever doing so improves speed and reliability
Employee support
You will help us move from a People team that repeatedly answers standard questions to one that builds systems people can use themselves.
You will build the documentation, workflows, processes and self-service infrastructure that make the majority of standard People requests easy to solve without intervention, while personally handling the exceptions and escalations that genuinely require expertise.
What we are looking for
You have already owned a meaningful People Operations scope in a fast-moving company of +100 employees.
In particular, we are looking for:
Hands-on experience with French payroll and employment compliance
Experience owning People Operations processes, workflows, and controls
HRIS experience. Hibob is a plus, but experience configuring and improving a comparable system matters more
A systems mindset and a strong instinct for automation
Excellent operational judgement. You know which issues you can solve yourself and which require specialist advice
High standards of accuracy, discretion and follow-through
Comfort operating independently in a small team where you will both design the process and run it
Fluent French and English. English is our working language, while much of our payroll and employment law environment is French
Based in Paris and able to work from our office at least three days per week.
